FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the first step to planning a remodel with MCHS?

It all begins with a simple 30 minute appointment. You can schedule a walkthrough either through phone, text, email, or our contact form on this website. Once we meet you at the location and walk through the area together, and discuss what you have in mind, we take measurements and specs. Within 2-7 business days you will receive your FREE quote.

  • How long will it take to to begin my project?

We can start the design process usually within a day or two after an agreement is finalized. The design process and material selections can take some time, so the sooner we start, the better for you.

  • How do I get myself on the MCHS calendar for my next remodeling project?

Once you have reviewed the quote, and you approve, you can send in a deposit check for 60% of the total amount. Once we receive the check, someone from our team will reach out and tell you all of the available time frames for the current calendar year. As soon as you approve of a time frame, we block it off on our calendar and it becomes officially designated to you and your project.

  • I want to do multiple remodels, should I do them all at once?

This is completely up to you. We always suggest that clients do remodels while they are away from their home to avoid the construction discomfort. No matter how clean and professional we keep our surroundings it is always uncomfortable to have to hear tools and machinery going at it while you are trying to relax at home. If you are a seasonal client, and you are planning on going back up north in the year, it is better to schedule all remodels at once during the period that you will be gone. We make sure to send photos and detailed updates to our out of state clients to keep them updates and worry free while they are away from their local homes.

  • I know what colors I want but I'm not the best at decorating or designing, what do I do?

Not to worry! Our team will take care of everything from the smallest details to the biggest, so that you don’t have to. You can choose to be as involved as you want to be. We can gather as much information from your vision as possible and surprise you at the end with a wonderful reveal, or we can show you selections every step of the way so that you can control all of the elements yet not get overwhelmed. Our priority is to make this as simple for you as possible!

  • How do I know that MCHS is the right company for me?

We pride ourselves in our transparency with our clients. Feel free to ask for references of other clients, and reach out to them to hear their experiences with us from their own mouths. Our clients are so satisfied with our services and craftsmanship that they will gladly give you their personal review.

  • After my remodel, can MCHS keep servicing our home?

We would love to! It is only ideal that the company that you are trusting for your remodels is the same company that is maintaining your remodels as well as the rest of the home. Let us be your one stop shop to everything home related. From home watch, to remodels, to plumbing maintenance, or pressure washing. Call US!

  • What is a work rotation?

For the seasonal clients who come and go, and need a remodel but waited too long to get on our schedule and now the time frame desired is no longer available, we sometimes offer work rotations. Work rotations are when the work calendar is already full but all of the clients are gone for the season. This gives us flexibility to do multiple remodels at once. For example, we have six remodels during the summer and all of the clients are gone. We will demo all six of those remodels all at the same time. We will proceed to the next step all at the time as well, whether that be drywall work, electrical, plumbing, etc…. When this happens clients understand that often times updates will not be as frequent, but they can rest assured that deadlines will be met. And that is all that matters.

  • Can I pay with a credit card?

Definitely. All major credit cards are accepted but a 6.5% processing fee must be applied.

  • What other forms of payments are accepted?

All major credit card payments are accepted. Checks and cashier checks are preferred. Venmo is accepted in very specific circumstances. Cash is accepted but checked on the spot for legitimacy.

  • Can we cut some corners to save money?

Absolutely not. We do not cut corners because everything we do is done the closest possible to perfection to ensure durability and reputable quality. What we can do is offer you options that could better fit your remodeling budget.

  • Does MCH offer a financing program?

Unfortunately at the time we do not have a financing program. It is something we would like to offer in the future.

We offer a progressive drawl schedule system. It is designed to ensure that the client’s funds are dedicated to materials and labor when it is necessary.

Once an agreement is signed, a 60% deposit is required. At that time, your project will be added to the calendar. Following the initial deposit, you will have a payment schedule that is broken down into phases that are aligned with the phases of your project. The final payment is a retainer for your “punch out list” which is due once the project has reached 90% completion.

  • When do we have design meetings?

A design meeting is scheduled after contracts have been signed and you are assigned a decorator.

  • What happens in design meetings?

Your assigned decorator will coordinate a time to meet with you. At that time you will discuss bringing your vision to life. The decorator and you will go over your project goals, the existing space layout, desired functionality, aesthetic choices, potential design solutions, material selections, budget constraints, permitting requirements, construction feasibility, timelines and any concerns/questions that the owner or design team may have regarding the remodeling project.

  • How long will my project take to complete?

The length of time that is involved in home remodeling varies depending on the extent of improvements being made. When we do quoting for remodeling costs, MCHS will also provide an approximate work schedule and time estimate for completing a remodeling project so that our clients know what to expect and can plan ahead for having us in their home.

  • What should I consider before remodeling?

You should consider your budget and timeline. MCHS goal is to help you find the best selections for your project within your budget. You also have to keep in mind that if you plan to hire outside contractors for other parts of your project, you will need to consider how their contracts and availability will fit into your budget/timeline. You can also consider the ways that you use your home currently. If there are any problems or inconveniences that you would like to resolve with the functionality of your home, MCHS is here to assist you with solutions. Examples of this would be:  What changes would make the home more user-friendly? What modifications would make the home more appealing and comfortable? The answer to these questions will be different for every homeowner. We are happy to help our clients identify these things during the design meeting stage so that their remodeling projects have purpose and direction.

  • What are some steps I can take to prepare for remodeling?

The best steps to help you prepare for your remodeling project depends on the scope of your project. You will receive instructions from our team on what should be done to prepare so that work can begin. We will explain which furnishings and personal items should be removed or anything else that should be done so work can commence. Homeowners should prepare to be without use of whatever spades are being remodeled for a period of time while that room is being completed. For entire full remodels, you may consider living arrangements away from your current home. To best protect personal property, any valuable or fragile items should be safely stored away from the work area.

  • How much will my remodel cost?

There are many factors involved in the cost of a home remodel, so it is important to have a full understanding of what the project will entail. Generally speaking, homeowners can expect to pay less for improvements that are mostly cosmetic and do not involve moving walls or changing the layout of any rooms or the position of any utilities and pay more for more implicated projects that do include those things. Luxury appliances, fixtures, cabinets, countertops and flooring will all increase the cost of any home remodel based on the quality and brands chosen by the homeowner. MCHS provides detailed and transparent estimates to our clients so that they can count on it to be correct. That way there is never a question about cost once the work begins.

  • What home improvements add value to my house?

When you are thinking about bringing in the most return on your remodeling investment, the projects that add the most value include bathroom remodels, kitchen remodels, new appliances, new flooring, updating cabinets or installing additional storage space. On a larger scale you can consider adding other bedrooms or bathrooms and finishing other spaces like attics or garages.

  • What is a full home remodel in comparison to a bathroom or kitchen remodel?

A home remodel is one that includes multiple areas within a home as opposed to just the bathroom or kitchen. It can include anything from simply updating flooring, lighting, fixture and other cosmetic features throughout the home to more significant improvements like re-planning spaces, moving walls, and replacing or adding storage solutions and other conveniences. Home remodels may include the bathroom(s) and/or kitchen, but they usually extend to other areas as well.

  • Do I need permits for remodeling my home?

MCHS handles all permitting so that you do not have to. Permits are determined by what county your home is located and what design plans you have.
